Gelatin plate printing class with Cate!
Looking for an exciting and addicting new art technique to try? Join me on Friday March 6th for a fun evening of experimenting with gelatin plate printing! Gelatin printing, also called hectograph or jellygraph, is a 200 year old technique that was used to reproduce documents but NOW it’s a way to produce unique prints that can be admired on their own or used in a variety of projects. During our three hour class we will cover the following-
Brief History and terminology of Printmaking
How to make a gelatin plate and print register
Stencil preparation using Tyvek, hot glue and common household items
Printing on the plate: covering types of medium that can be used on your plate, the best types of paper and preparation for your projects, collage and using stencils and other mark making items that you probably already have in your cupboards!
Ideas for using your prints in other art projects
You will come away from the class with a 6”x6” gelatin plate (re-usable but not permanent) , many different types of prints made with different techniques, and hopefully a new passion you feel comfortable exploring on your own!
Class cost is $40 and includes 3 hours of instruction, materials, and a glass of wine! We only have 6 spaces available, so sign up soon! Please feel free to bring a snack or drink for yourself or to share. If you would love to attend but have monetary limitations please e-mail Lisa directly to discuss options (facebook or firstname.lastname@example.org) .
